Galatians ch3
If legislation were to be put forward in Parliament that would automatically make everyone good it would be voted in unanimously. However, no human effort can override the desperate condition of the human heart, making such legislation impossible.
God knows all too well the sinful state of humanity and that human beings simply cannot attain righteousness by their own merits. It is only by accepting the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross that our sinful condition can be dealt with.
We must be born again – this is essential for right standing with God. Jesus is the solid rock on which we must build – our righteousness is solely in Him. It must be Jesus Christ alone and not Jesus plus any set of rules and regulations, for no individual human being will ever fully satisfy such requirements. No philosophy or set of ideas can do it, only Jesus.
